Vacation Rental Management FAQ

Your home. Your decisions.
Your questions answered.

Answers for Charleston property owners about management services, fees, onboarding, personal use, maintenance, and reporting.

What does full-service management include?

Pricing, availability, listing performance, reservations, guest communication, arrivals, turnovers, supplies, maintenance coordination, property checks, and owner reporting. The Services page explains how these responsibilities fit together. Your management discussion establishes the scope for your home.

Is my property a fit?

Share the location, current use, and your ownership goals. An existing listing or property link helps us understand the home. Service fit is discussed for the individual property; this site does not promise acceptance of every home or coverage in every surrounding market.

Can I start if I already have bookings?

Yes, you can begin a management conversation with existing bookings. Share the reservation calendar, current listing arrangements, and guest commitments. The handover needs to address existing stays and access before responsibilities change.

What should I prepare for the first conversation?

Bring the property location, a listing or description, its current use, and the work you want to hand over. Known maintenance concerns, existing vendor arrangements, and your plans for personal use are also useful. You do not need all of this to make an initial inquiry.

What are the management fees?

Fees are discussed with the property and service scope in view. Before agreeing to management, ask how fees are calculated and which costs are separate, including turnovers, supplies, repairs, or other property expenses. No standard fee is published on this site.

Can I use my own home?

Discuss your personal-use plans during the management conversation so they can be considered alongside availability and existing reservations. Owner-use terms, notice requirements, and calendar procedures should be established in the management arrangement.

How are repairs and spending approvals handled?

Charleston Host coordinates maintenance. Discuss approval limits, urgent issues, vendor arrangements, and how repair expenses are reported before management begins. Coordination does not mean every repair is included in the management fee.

How will I know how my home is doing?

Owner reporting and practical property updates are part of the service. Discuss the information you want to see, the reporting schedule, and how questions will be handled. Financial performance is best understood alongside expenses, available dates, and the needs of the property.

Do you guarantee revenue or occupancy?

No. Results depend on the home and market conditions. We can discuss your property and ownership goals, but do not promise occupancy, revenue, or search rankings.

How long does onboarding take?

Timing depends on the home’s readiness, existing bookings, information, and transition needs. Discuss an appropriate start date and the preparation required for your property; no fixed onboarding timeline is promised here.

What if I want to keep my local co-host?

If you want to keep managing the property with a local co-host, Host Sidecar may be the more appropriate service. It offers operating support while you or your local co-host remain in charge on the ground.

How do I take the next step?

Use the owner inquiry form or email [email protected]. Tell us about your home and what you would like management to take care of.
