The NS, or Name Server records of a domain, point out which servers handle the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a particular host company for your domain is the most convenient way to point it to their system and all its sub-records will be handled on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), etcetera, if you want to edit any one of these records, you're going to be able to do it using their system. To put it differently, the NS records of a domain name reveal the DNS servers that are authoritative for it, so when you attempt to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to get the DNS records of the Internet domain you want to access. This way the website that you'll see will be retrieved from the correct location. The name servers usually have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and every single domain address has at least 2 NS records. There isn't any sensible difference between the two prefixes, so what type a hosting provider is going to use depends solely on their preference.

NS Records in Cloud Web Hosting

The avant-garde Hepsia CP, offered with with our cloud web hosting products, will allow you to take care of the name servers of each domain name registered through us with just a couple of clicks, so even when you have never had a hosting plan or a domain before, you simply won't encounter any problems. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, has a very user-friendly interface and will permit you to edit the NS records of any domain name or even a number of domain addresses together. In addition we offer you the opportunity to set up child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for each and every domain name registered in the account just as easily and all you need for that is a couple of IP addresses - either ours, if you will use the child NS to forward the domain address to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party company if you'll use the new records to forward the domain to their system. In contrast to other companies, we do not charge extra for providing this additional DNS management service.
